Sergio 'Kun' (no I don't know either) Aguero is out for a month at least, and so if you have been doing any good at all in your league you should be thinking about who you are going to replace him with, and fast!
He has already fallen in value by 0.1, and will doubtless fall even further by Friday, shaving valuable millions off your team. Usually I would advise waiting to get all the latest team and injury news before subbing anyone in, but in this case I would move fast.
What are the options though?
Alvaro Negredo - the like for like
Would I bring myself in? No comment. Is my hair a bit shit? No comment.
So you can just take out one Man City striker for another, easy right? You probably didn't have both in your team anyway. He's a beast. He's got 3 goals in his last 4 starts. He scored against Arsenal and Spurs. He's only owned by 9.5% of people. He'll definitely start. He's got a beard. Man City look to have solved their away-day blues (TM).
Admittedly these are all good reasons, but does his success actually rely on being the poorer half of a striking duo? When he's up front with Edin Dzeko, is he going to be quite as successful?
Luis Suarez - if he isn't already in your team, you are literally (and I mean that literally) an idiot
Might struggle leading the line against a strong Cardiff defence next week? Nooooooo, see above!
Edin Dzeko - "My time to shine"
Disagree, sorry Edin. I'm still not sure he will start, I think City are more likely to revert to a 4-2-3-1 with Negredo up front and Silva, Nasri and maybe Navas behind. Looks like a crafty cheap option at 6.7, but is actually probably more of a 10-minute-1-point-wonder.
Romelu Lukaku
My personal choice. He's big, he's bad, you know it, you know it. Everton have some easy games coming up and they are bang in form. He's slightly cheaper too, but may rise to be more expensive that Aguero in the month that he is out, so you can swap them back across. Roon Dog Millionaire
Another striker who's bang in form, but playing for Manchester United who are out of sorts. West Ham at home, then two (admittedly easy) away games followed by home to Tottenham suggest he could earn some points, but he seems a little overpriced. Also, he's Wayne Rooney and I hate him. Loic Remy, Olivier Giroud a.k.a. Ze French!
Strong starters to the season who have fallen a bit out of form lately. Avoid, especially as Giroud looks tired and Arsenal have lots of games coming up including Chelsea next. Gary Hooper, Marouane Chamakh
Surely not?
But wait... Hooper has 3 in 4, Chamakh has 3 in 3. Both have decent fixtures this week, and have picked up a bit of late. If you wanted to save some cash and invest in the midfield, these could be viable if unfashionable alternatives.
David Silva- the like for like?
Sure he doesn't play up front, but he's back from injury and will likely play the supporting role to Negredo in the hole. Slightly cheaper than Negredo, and likely to be a guaranteed starter.
