Let’s keep this short and sweet. If you own Kun, the armband
stays with him until his next injury. If you don’t have him, consider activating
that second wildcard to get him in. Or if you want to be a hipster and try to
captain someone else, good luck to you. There are other options this week,
Ighalo (NEW) and Lukaku (SWA). If we’re going really crazy, why not even throw
Baines back into the mix, the ultimate-captain-you-never-pick-and-shouldn’t-really-be-in-your-team-but-is-anyway-and-you-always-fancy-him-as-an-outside-captain-choice-but-never-pick-him-because-you-have-teeny-tiny-baby-balls.
Buy Low
Leighton Baines (£6.1m) vs. Swansea (H)
Well after that earlier rant, I still think Baines
represents good value and looked decent against Chelsea last week where Everton
were a constant threat down the left. He normally starts the season at around
£7m, takes corners and should still be on pens (TBC). His next few fixtures look
tasty and although Everton aren’t exactly tight at the back you can certainly
expect attacking returns from this man. Ideal straight swap for Kolarov.
Potential DGW on the horizon for Everton as well. Although there are cheaper
options across their back line, and every time I buy Baines he does absolutely
nothing, I’m bringing him in anyway. Every time I go back into rehab they tell me the same thing - "Do you know what the definition of
insanity is? Repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting a
different outcome." Einstein said it, but what the hell did he know? I'm saying fuck it, bring him in anyway!
Sell High
KDB (10.8m) vs. West Ham (a)
Kevin de braauyne. Sing it loud and there's music playing. Sing it soft and it's almost like praying. Musicality aside, I just don’t know what to do with him. He
really is great and is capable of explosive returns but you just never know
when they’re going to come. Realistically, you’re never going to captain him if
you own Kun. And if you really want Man City midfield coverage you can get Yaya
for 8.7m who’s scored only 4 points less than KDB so far this season and is consistency on a cake. Rumour
mill says Yaya want’s out of City and he might turn up this second half of the
season to get that big transfer to a club that really love and appreciate him
likes he’s always wanted.
Yes - This is Kolo.
If you’re struggling to find the funds to squeeze Kun in,
then I’m afraid KDB might have to make way. It’s almost time to start
ditching Arsenal players as we move towards their annual March capitulation, but I’d hold on to Ozil and co. for the
next few weeks as the fixtures are decent. Ditch KDB and take a punt on
Wijnaldum, Firmino, Arnautovic or even Payet (apparently he’s back) and you’ll
find yourself with an extra £4mil in the bank and with a player that’s getting
just as good a return as KDB, if not better.
