GW19: Winter Has Come

It's time to say "Farewell" to 2016, although depending on your political leniencies, another popular phrase beginning with 'F' may be more appropriate.

Here at Bantasy Football we are engrossed in what is a crucial time in the Fantasy calendar: Short of wildcard season, the winter period presents the most crucial challenge for Fantasy managers - who must skirt suspensions, round rotation and evade injuries to extricate points from often barren FPL squads replete with red and orange flags.

Don't let it be all over your face

Let Me Give You My Tip (of the week)

Stock up on transfers like they're canned goods and the apocalypse is coming. Just pretend Trump is gonna be President or something batshit cray.

Get You A Superstar

Paul Pogba (8.4) -- Manchester United || MID (H)

What do all the best teams in the world need? A galactico. Your Fantasy team is no different. There's a reason United shelled out a bajillion credits on Superstar Pog - and he's starting to shine.

After Mane, Sanchez and Firmino, Paul's had the most touches in the penalty area of any midfielder - and that's playing from deep. Just imagine what he'll do if and when they let him off the leash.

Two goals and an assist in the past three is the amuse bouche for this supernova exploding in 2017. Get yours at a moderate 8.4 before he rises into the premium price bracket and you've shat the bed.

Buy Low

Baines on Toast (5.4) -- Everton || HUL (A)

Leighton's not usually a buy low candidate. That's because he's been a premium Fantasy defender for as long as Arsene Wenger's players returning from injury have been "just like new signings".

The lad's back on pen duties and whilst most of the marauding is left to Seamus Coleman nowadays, the Toffees are looking less sticky at the back, with an impressive 2-1 win over Arsenal and a comfortable 2-0 win against Champions Leicester in the past three.

Clean sheets are scarce in the Prem at the moment and defender goals are always a bonus. In these times of uncertainty, hang your hat on Mr Reliable for realistic but satisfying returns.

Sell High

Jan Vertonghen (5.7) -- Tottenham || SUS

Jan the big man with a van and a tan should get the can. Don't make him part of your plan. He kicked a man and now he's banned, after which he faces the Stamford Bridge clan and City (Man) in a three-game span. Here's Bonnie Wan:
