...so have resorted to crap Christmas "poetry" to get my creative juices flowing.
Sleighton Baines rings. Are you listening?
Is it Kane, who is glistening?
A Coutiful sight - We're happy tonight?
Walker in a winter wonderland?
Don't tune out just yet - As woeful as these puns may be, they raise some interesting questions - So tipping an Elf cap to Kris Kringle we shake up our usual format this week and search deep to bring you a potent concoction of festive cheer and fantasy football funnies.
...Let it Alonso
Before we get into all o' that jazz... I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I spotted our Marcos (7.0) shopping at Whole Foods with his Dad yesterday. Three obvious takeaways from this:
1. Mark's a family man. He'll want to bring the Feliz Navidad a la Alonso household with a goal or two in the coming week.
2. Nutrition is high on his priority list even in December, the most temptingest of months. This bodes well for a fantasy football bonanza.
3. He's able to walk and therefore will be selected to play against Everton on Saturday.
I should note that his response to someone shouting at him "Good goal the other day, bruv!" was decidedly uncomfortable. There's a chance, albeit a slim one, that he will avoid finding the net to prevent any such further public interactions. Just thought I'd flag that up. Seemed important.
This too is relevant and important
Sleighton Baines rings. Are you listening?
Leighton was due to return to full fitness a few days ago according to FPL but may have bit the manflu bug because there's no sign of a return. @BenDinnery is cautious, which is all you need to know.
This is a must-monitor situation, though, given Everton's managerial Yankee Swap has them in festive cheer and Baines scored in back-to-back games before succumbing to injury. Put a reminder on yer mobile to check in next week and put this one on ice for now.
Is it Kane, who is glistening?
Is Kane must-have again? Is he Christmas fudge. As we pointed out a few weeks ago, before he promptly went off for a brace, he misses Gameweek 21 due to a rescheduled fixture with WHAM (Now to be given to someone special / moved to Gameweek 22).
So if you have Kaninho, save up a FT for that inevitability. If you don't, look elsewhere for your pigs in blankets - Unless you have Morata (now suspended because of Carabao Crap) - In which case just pray for a snow day or something.
Two feet of snow
A Coutiful sight - We're happy tonight?
If Santa rotated his reindeer as often as Klopp swaps around his starting lineup, the sleigh would spin around in circles and kids would never get their Fidget Spinners or Instagrams or whatever it is they want nowadays.
His tenuous position in the team despite being Liverpool's most talented player is reason enough to shy away, but his cu-al-it-eee is undeniable and surely Jurgen wouldn't make the same mistake he made in the derby and bench him for the big game against Arsenal on Friday*... surely?
*FRIDAY NIGHT FPL KLAXON - Don't get left out...
Walker in a winter wonderland?
Another premium player who is prone to a benching even outside the festive period is Kyle "God of War" Walker (6.6). The attacking threat he displayed at Spurs hasn't exactly shone through at the Etihad in a Fantasy-relevant way - in fact he has the same number of assists as his replacement Trippier, who's played four fewer games.
Given Danilo is waiting in the wings to nick his brussel sprouts and shit all over the stuffing, I'd avoid spending all your bucks on Walker when goal gazelle Otamendi costs 0.4 less and is considerably less likely to go into the deep freeze for multiple Xmas fixtures.
Merry Holidays From Bantasy Football
Wishing you full family fun and fantasy football fantasticness!
